This uses the same high quality Duratrans medium only the film is face mounted to a thin piece of non-glare acrylic. The laminate also adds a bit of softness to the image due to its heavier texture. This gives a soft feel to the image and lends itself to very small boxes that will not ever be touched. The maximum size we will do in consumer grade is 20×30, ALL sizes larger than 20×30 must be done in professional grade to avoid sagging or bulging over time. We have two grades of prints as well, the first is consumer grade which is a high quality Duratrans/Fujitrans that is laminated with a heavy polycarbonate laminate. We suggest our professional grade image for use in all but the smallest aluminum framed boxes for stability.Īre there different grades of print? If so, what is the difference? It does allow you to change the image by loosening just two screws. It also has a slim forward facing profile (⅜”), but it is a little bit deeper at 2 ½”. The second frame option is the aluminum frame. The image is permanently adhered to this box and cannot be changed. This frame has very little profile and the image is bled off of the side of the box creating just a tiny shadow line around the box with no visible frame. We have two frame options, the first is our standard minimalist frame. Is there an option to switch out the print? This is what allows the awesome resolution and continuous tone color reproduction. It is exposed in a laser or LED printer and then developed just like traditional film. Duratrans is a continuous tone process, and has the highest Dmax possible (the darkest blacks, inkjet blacks tend to be charcoal grey at best).ĭuratrans is is a silver halide emulsion on a polyester film/diffusion layer. ![]() In the image below see the difference between an inkjet image and a Duratrans image. Many of our competitors use inkjet printers of some sort or another but none have the dynamic range or contrast range of the Duratrans. This is the gold standard for backlit images. We use a high quality Duratrans (actually a Fujitrans) for all of our prints. What Material do you use to print on? What is the prociess? Printing without the light source will not yield the best results.
